Benromach Traditional Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 750 ml

alcoholic beverage

Benromach Traditional Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 750 ml
Established in 1898, the Benromach Distillery has a long, volatile history. Due to an economic depression and two World Wars, the Distillery was in a constant state of change. The business changed hands numerous times and was even inactive for many years. However in 1998, the Distillery reopened and production resumed. Benromach Scotch Whiskey is crafted by experienced distillers using only the finest Scottish malted barley and pure spring water from the Romach hills. On the nose, notes of citrus fruit blend with hints of honey and pine. Smokey flavors of cereal and malt on the palate are complemented by spicy, peppery notes with a delicate floral edge. The slightly sweet finish is complemented by subtle notes of smoke and vanilla. Product of Scotland Alcohol by Volume 40 Categories All Whiskey, Whiskey, Spirits, Scotch Whisky

Whiskey and Philosophy: A Small Batch of Spirited Ideas (Philosophy for Everyone)
Thoughtful essays on the history, significance, and pleasures of whiskey

Everyone becomes a philosopher with a drink in hand, but Whiskey & Philosophy takes this natural pairing to a new level. It explores a range of philosophical topics related to whiskey through engaging reflections written by philosophers, whiskey writers, and others.

You will learn things that are both practical (how do tasting notes vary across guides and whiskey brands?) and thought provoking (why is there the popular conception that drinking whiskey makes people mean, and is it true?). Whether your interest lies in the drink itself or in the philosophical issues surrounding it, you’ll find something to interest you in this unusual book.

  • Covers subjects ranging from geographical origin to stylistic differences between whiskey and Scotch
  • Explores philosophical ideas such as the aesthetics, metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics of whiskey and whiskey drinking
  • Includes contributions from academics, journalists, and whiskey specialists, all written in an engaging and accessible style

Whether you prefer your whiskey neat or in a Manhattan, from the United States, Scotland, or elsewhere, Whiskey & Philosophy is your perfect drinking companion.

Pig’s Nose Scotch Whisky Aged 5 Years 750ML

alcoholic beverage

Pigs Nose Scotch Whisky Aged 5 Years 750ML
Described in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2006 as “A big, sweet, chunky, gawky, grainlashed but hugely enjoyable blend.”Pigs Nose is an exceptionally fine five year old blended whisky, created by Richard Patterson, Scotland’s only third generation master blender as a companion for Sheep Dip – for week days but not for the Christmas Cake. The blend contains a high percentage (40%) of malt whiskies, principally from Speyside imbuing the product with their characteristic softness; the name comes from the farming expression “soft as a pig’s nose’. Colour:Rich, golden copper highlights. Nose:Delicate and refined. Soft sensual floral notes arise in perfect harmony supported by an attractive array of complex fruit flavours. Melon, pear and orange with a hint of almonds conclude this profusion of charming nuances.Taste:Finesse and elegance gives way to a majestic assertion of pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. Each area forges and makes its own inimitable contribution to this outstanding pure malt – the main accent being expressed from the Highlands and Speyside Valleys. Liquor

Laphroaig 18 year old, Islay Single Malt Whisky 750ml

alcoholic beverage

Laphroaig 18 year old, Islay Single Malt Whisky 750ml
“Very smooth for Laphroaig — the extra aging has mellowed this whisky. Soothing honeyed malt, creamy vanilla, and toffee provide a bed for peat smoke, charcoal, and tar; along with more subtle brine, smoked seaweed, anise, ginger, and citrus. A gentler, creamier, more tactile, less medicinal Laphroaig when compared to some of its siblings. Will you prefer the new 18 year old to the 15 year old it is replacing? That depends. I enjoy the balance and subtle complexity of flavors with the 15 year old, but I also like the enhanced richness and mouth-coating creaminess of the 18. The higher strength (and no chill-filtering) of the 18 is certainly a bonus.” -Malt Advocate
